OPEN HOUSE 2020 Welcome !

Dear Parents, Welcome! My name is Claire Mc. Carthy. I am Special Education teacher for Fifth through Eighth grade for the 2020 - 2021 school year. I am delighted to have the opportunity to work with all students here at Discovery. If your child has an individual educational plan? I have had the pleasure to work with them for all their individual needs. I am looking forward to a very successful year and I know you are too. I have high expectations for your child, and I will do all that I can to help your child achieve those expectations. In addition, it is my goal to be able to support your child in the general education classroom. I believe that all students with the right amount of support can achieve and maintain success along with their peers. My goal is to provide your child with new strategies that will help build upon the knowledge that they already have all while also providing support that they need individually. Finally, I want you to know that one of my most important goals this year is to keep the lines of communication open with you. I am available every day to talk with between 2: 30 p. m. and 3: 00 p. m. All about Me ! Growing up in Connecticut I always wanted to be a teacher. I received my bachelor's degree from Albertus Magnus College in New Haven, Connecticut. I received my Master’s degree in Special education from Fairfield University. I love being in the classroom. I feel very fortunate to say that I Love what I do every single day.
