Road To Certification Application Process • Verifies academic and work experience • Determines discipline and designation Academic • Graduate from a full-time, post secondary engineering or applied science program or equivalent • 2 year program earns C. Tech designation • 3 year program earns C. E. T. designation Work Experience • 2 years within discipline required • Co-op may count towards requirement • Generally 1 year in Canada
Road To Certification Professional Practice Examination • Multiple choice exam, consisting of three parts; Law, Ethics and Practice • Must earn a minimum 50% grade in each part to pass • May be written upon becoming an Associate Member Technology Report • Applicable to C. E. T. designation only • Two step process; 1) submit a Proposal, 2) upon approval, write and submit a Report
Sheridan College • Nationally accredited programs Architectural Technician & Technology Chemical Laboratory Technician Chemical Engineering Technology - Environmental Computer Engineering Technician & Technology Electromechanical Engineering Technician & Technology Electronics Engineering Technician & Technology Environmental Science Technician Mechanical Engineering Technician & Technology (Design and Drafting) Telecommunications Technology • Technology Report embedded in curriculum, meets OACETT requirement • Co-op counts 1 to 1, if supervised by P. Eng or OACETT certified member
Membership Associate Member – Post Secondary Student • Must complete one year of a post secondary program in engineering or applied science technology • One time application fee of $50. 00 plus HST • Annual dues – first year are waived, $50. 00 plus HST each year in full-time program • Maintain Associate Member status up to 6 years while working towards certification Certified Member • Earned upon review and approval of all certification requirements
