Dual Enrollment § If interested in taking dual enrollment classes in the summer or fall, all paperwork must be processed by April 1 st. This includes counselor approval. § Wallace State now offers students the opportunity to file a FAFSA (grant application) to help pay for the class. § Career Technical Scholarships are also available.

Dual Enrollment Criteria Students enrolled in Oneonta High School, who are at least 16 years of age, who are classified as juniors or seniors*, who have a 3. 0 GPA, and are eligible for enrollment under the Alabama State Board of education Alabama Administrative Code, Rule No. 290 -3 -1 -. 02, may take approved courses in Alabama’s public colleges, universities, or technical institutes in which they have been admitted. Students shall pay normal tuition and fees as required by the postsecondary institution. Such students shall receive post-secondary credit hours and high school Carnegie unit credit for work successfully completed up to the amount normally required to complete the high school diploma program. Students/parents must provide their own transportation to dual enrollment courses offered off-campus. *Sophomores that want to participate in dual enrollment must submit a letter of request to Mrs. Wilson.

Early Graduation “Any high school student who completes the number of credits and other exiting standards required by both the State of Alabama and the Oneonta City School System prior to completing 8 semesters of high school work, and that student will be 17 years old by the intended graduation, may petition the Principal of Oneonta High School and the Superintendent of Oneonta City School to graduate early. This must be discussed with the counselor. ”- OHS handbook.

Virtual School Oneonta City Schools provides a virtual program for students in grades 9

Virtual School Oneonta City Schools provides a virtual program for students in grades 9 -12. Curriculum and instructions will be provided to students through ACCESS. Students must meet the eligibility criteria. See Mrs. Archer for more information.

Advantages for Taking AP Courses - Students will receive $100 for each qualifying AP

Advantages for Taking AP Courses - Students will receive $100 for each qualifying AP score of 3 or higher. - Students will have the potential to earn college credit via their qualifying score (for qualifying score check with the college of choice). - In addition to increased rigor and ACT scores, students taking AP coursework, regardless of whether or not they earn a qualifying score, will ultimately be better prepared for the rigor of college coursework.

Cost of AP Exams AP Exam fees are subject to reduction of approximately $38 per exam based on the A+ Grant funding. Without the grant, the cost of exams are $92 per exam. This could change from year to year.

AP and Pre. AP Grade Weights per OHS Handbook Statement “Averages will be computed on a 4. 0 scale: A=4, B=3, C=2, D=1, F=0. Advanced Placement courses (AP History, AP English Lit/Lang, AP Science, and AP Math) will be awarded one extra point: A=5, B=4, C=3, D=2. Pre. AP Classes will be awarded 0. 5: A=4. 5, B=3. 5, C=2. 5, and D=1. 5. If a student falls below a D in an AP or Pre. AP class, the extra point for class rank will not be awarded. Grade Point Averages (GPA) equal the number of grade points earned divided by the number of semester classes. AP classes will be awarded 8 points (4 points per semester) and Pre. AP classes will be awarded 4 points (2 points per semester). Transfer students’ weighted courses will follow the criteria approved for AP and Honors classes by the Oneonta Board of Education in 2011 -2012. ” OHS Student Handbook
