Why-We need to work hard and play hard for the health of our bodies. We will work our heart and lungs by running around the gym to earn fish $ to play a fun game. HOWPsychomotor: Kindergarten athletes will run the perimeter (around the gymnasium cones) without stopping for at least one lap while earning laminated fish money for each lap. Cognitive: Kindergarten students will count the earned money for each lap and “pay to play” a station activity with the correct amount of fish dollars. (Students can run one lap and play station 1, run two laps to play station 2 and three laps for station 3, etc. After they play a station and “pay” with their fish $ in the station bucket, the students run again to earn more fish money. What- (lesson structure/outline) • Instant Activity: Hoop Explore—students use a hoop to explore movement with a hoop (jumping; spinning; hula hooping; balancing on different body parts etc) • Fitness Activity: Hoop Spinner Fitness: students spin their hoop like a top spinner, and perform the exercises on the Fish Bowl Exercise sheet till the hoop spins to a stop. • One, Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish Game • YOGA
• Hoop Spinner Fitness: students spin their hoop like a top spinner, and perform the exercises on the Fish Bowl Exercise sheet till the hoop spins to a stop. • Adaptation: Students roll dice and perform the exercise to match the # on the fishbowl sheet. #5 and #6 create their own exercise. HOW TO PLAY… EQUIPMENT • • • Station equipment depends on what activities you set up for your stations. Laminated fish (lots of them) Buckets for each station to put fish in and each banker needs a bucket of fish Two bankers needed for game (students you can switch out every 5 minute or para professionals) Dr. Seuss Hats for Bankers to wear and each banker needs a color pinnie. Two color Pinnies or colored wrist bands (students wear these to know which banker to collect money from. • Cones around space to create running track • Cones at each station with signs and # cones help DIRECTIONS 1. Bankers stand in opposite corners of the gym with a bucket of fish, pinnie and hat. 2. Students start standing by the matching banker and will run the perimeter (around the gymnasium cones) and earn one fish $ /lap from their banker. 3. Students will take earned money to “pay to play” a station activity, Students can run one lap and play station 1, run two laps to play station 2 and three laps for station 3, etc. 4. After they play a station and “pay” with their fish $ in the station bucket, the students run again to earn more fish money. Play the activity for 15 -20 minutes. 5. Math Assessment: have students keep their fish $ and add the amount of fish $ collected at the end of the game and tally on
