Covenant- an agreement between two individuals or groups Promise, agreement, contract God often made covenants in the Bible with humans—making promises to them
Torah- the first five books of the Bible which were written by Moses Hebrew name for the first 5 books of the Bible These 5 books mainly teach about the origins of Israel and their laws
Nebiim- the prophetic books of the OT
Ketubim- a collect of 13 Old Testament books containing the poetic books and other writings Ketubim means “the writings” in Hebrew
Old Covenant- the agreement recorded in the Old Testament that God made with the nation of Israel making them His people Recorded the history and dealings between God and mankind before Christ came to earth. Genesis to Malachi in the English Bible
New Covenant- the new agreement recorded in the New Testament that God has made with all who repent and believe on Jesus Christ, who has fulfilled all the covenant’s demands Recorded the new age and revelation of God’s plan to mankind that began with Jesus Christ Matthew to Revelation in the English Bible
Gospels- literally meaning “good news. ” The name given to the first 4 books of the NT which portray the person and work of Jesus Christ The Gospel books are Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John They are the first 4 books of the New Testament
Epistles- letters of the New Testament written to explain and apply the truth about Jesus Christ to Christian living Epistle is a fancy word for a letter (편지) Paul wrote most of the epistles of the NT
