Once upon a time, there were 13 Colonies….

At first the Colonists liked having help from England, sort of like England was a Parent. Good job Colonists for paying me all those lovely taxes!

After a few years, the Colonists felt like they didn’t need so much Parenting (or King George. ) We are tired of the King telling us what to do! He doesn’t even live here. We should have our own government!

So, a few Colonists (The Sons of Liberty) started meeting and talking about breaking away from England…… • One of the Colonists was Paul Revere We don’t need England! We are Patriots.

Paul Revere helped organize the Boston Tea Party. The Sons of Liberty dressed up like Native Americans They dumped the tea into the Boston Harbor. The Colonists were still mad about The Stamp Act.

King George was mad!! Grrrr……. Those Colonists are behaving like naughty children!

King George sent troops to the Colonies. “The Red Coats are coming!”

Paul Revere warned people that the ‘Red Coats’ were coming. He saved many people’s lives by sounding the warning.
