On a neighbouring galaxy called The Sombrero Galaxy
On a neighbouring galaxy called The Sombrero Galaxy, there is a star called Top Hat.
The Top Hat star has a planetary system composed of five planets. One of the planets, the 3 rd from Top Hat is Bowler.
Bowler was once a beautiful planet, with a blue ring around it, an atmosphere full of oxygen and with all kinds of plants and animals. Bowler was mountanious and full of water in the form of glaciers, rivers and oceans.
But Bowler is not beautiful anymore. Now, it looks reddish from the space and its atmosphere is poisonous. The glaciers are melting due to global warming and the land is almost covered by water. Only the mountaintops can be seen and. . .
. . . all the animals and Hatumans are crowded there.
The Hatumans are the inhabitants of planet Bowler. They are short and hairy with a funny hat shape, short legs and a huge head.
When the situation grew worse, the Hatumans’ planetary goverment decided to send a scientific mission and try to find another planet where to start the Hat civilization all over again. So, a team of two leading scientists Dr. Patrick Panama Hat and Dr. Betty Beret were sent along in a spaceship with samples of every kind of plants and animals in the planet
They left the Sombrero Galaxy. . .
. . . reached the Milky Way and entered it through one of its spiral arms.
Suddenly they saw a strange looking planet, it was round, blue and green as their own beloved Bowler once was. But at one of the poles of the sphere there was a huge hole in the atmosphere. They decided to land there and see it by themselves.
They landed on the planet and immediately, they were surrounded by the ugliest beings they had ever seen. They called themselves Humans and were tall, skinny and had almost no body hair, except a ridiculous looking bunch of hair on their heads. Some males had also some hair on their faces, above their mouths. Nevertheless, they looked strangely familiar, so they were ready to listen to them. When humans learnt that they were scientists, they took them to a place called ESA (European Space Agency) where human scientists worked.
Dr. Panama Hat and Dr. Beret explained the situation in Bowler and their mission. Humans invited them to visit the Earth with them so they could decide if it was suitable for Hatumans or not. They went to big cities and saw that rubbish accumulated everywhere. They visited together the Amazon rainforest and saw that large areas of forest where being cleared everyday They also visited seas that were dying like the Aral Sea in Central Asia. Finally, they travelled to Antarctica and saw that the ice was starting to melt.
Dr Panama Hat and Dr. Beret warned the scientists about the dangers that the Earth was running and the ESA decided to send two scientists, Mr. Adam Moon and Ms. Eve Sunnyday, along with them and try to find another planet together. The four scientists got onto individual spatial motorbikes and visited a planet named Hoticicle.
Seen from afar, it looked beautiful: it changed from bright red to pale blue, from pale blue to bright red, but as soon as they landed on it, they felt they were suffocating due to the incredible heat. But one hour later, they heard the siren again. Now, everybody started wearing coats over coats. It was freezing cold. The scientists jumped onto their spatial motorbikes and continued the journey. Some strange beings entered air-conditioned greenhouses. Suddenly, a siren was heard and people went out. The temperature was nice, the light was pale violet and the scientists thought that it could be a nice planet to live on.
Two days later, they arrived in an enormous green and red planet. It looked great: lots of room for many people, water, mountains, . . . But, when they approached it, they suddenly felt a strong force that attracted them down. Their motorbikes got stuck to the floor.
From their vehicles, they could see strange beings wearing rockets at their backs. Every time they wanted to take a step, they pressed a button and jumped advancing half a metre. They understood why: gravity in large planets is very strong. It was difficult to move about and almost impossible to escape from the planet. Thankfully, a group of inhabitants there gave them four big rockets to each of them so they could be propelled back into space.
After that experience, they began to feel tired and discouraged. Next, they landed on a planet taht spun too fast: days lasted as little as one minute on Earth. Then, they visited a beautiful silver planet but it had no water!
The four scientists went back to the Earth. They were exhausted. The next day, they had a meeting. After ten hours’ talk, they made a decision. Dr. Moon and Dr. Sunnyday appeared on all the TV channels. Their message was short but convincing: The future of life is on our hands!!!
Dr. Moon and Dr. Sunnyday waved goodbye to their friends. They were going back to planet Bowler with the same message.
