OMAM Character Charts
Format
Explanation • Physical Traits – Any and all physical features mentioned about the character, including clothing/accessories • Character Traits – Personality traits of the characters behavior, basically, how this character is as a person. For example, Roderick Usher was paranoid an extremely fearful person • Proof of Character Traits – This goes hand in hand with the character traits where you are tasked to provide evidence from the text to support the personality traits you filled in the chart • Misc. Notes – Any other details that are important but do not fall into the categories of physical or character traits. For example, noting down the character’s family members or their life goals

Example: Fortunato’s Physical Traits • He was round and robust • He was dressed in a jester outfit with a cap that had bells • He was intoxicated with Medoc (wine) • He suffered from a cough
Example: Fortunato’s Character Traits • He is an egotistic individual with immense pride • He is gullible and easily lured into situations • He is a bit of a jerk in terms of social status
Example: Proof of Fortunato’s Character Traits • He thought he was a better expert in wine than Luchresi • He allowed Montressor to lead him to a dark and morbid place without raising any suspicion. • He treats Montressor as an inferior because his family is supposedly not important and he thinks Montressor isn’t capable of being a part of an elite brotherhood
Misc. Notes about Fortunato • Fortunato means “fortunate”, which is ironic because he was in fact, not lucky. • He was a connoisseur in wine, not gems. • He was a part of an elite brotherhood called the Masons
