The Summer Olympics in Raková n n n were held on 30 May together with the activities of the Children´s Day were prepared and organized by a team of our teachers, naimly: Mr Roštár, Mrs Najdeková (PE teachers), Mrs Budošová, Mrs Ďurkáčová and Mrs Bebejová. 152 pupils took part.

The Summer Olympics 1992 • • • The Summer Olympics of 1992 were held in Barcelona, Spain. 9356 sportsmen and sportswomen from 169 nations participated there. The only one country among IOC countries not to participate was Afghanistan. South Africa was allowed to participate after a 28 years suspension which had been imposed due to its apartheid policy. At the end of 1980 s and at the beginning of the 1990 s a lot of political events took place which led to forming new states and disappearing the old ones and that´s why: 1 Germany participated as a single team for the first time since 1960 2 The Baltic nations of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania participated with their own teams for the first time since 1936. The other Soviet republics took part in the Unified Team. 3 Yugoslav athletes were only allowed to compete under the Olympic flag as Independent Olympic Participants due to United Nations sanctions 4 Czechoslovakia competed as one national team for the last time before the split in 1993. The Summer Olympics of 1992 were officially opened by the Spanish King Juan Carlos I on 25 th July. The Olympic Flame was lit by a paralympic archer Antonio Rebollo. In men's artistic gymnastics, Vitaly Scherbo from Belarus won six gold medals, including four on a single day. On the 20 th anniversary of the Munich massacre, Yael Arad became the first Israeli to win an Olympic medal, winning a silver medal in judo. The next day, Oren Smadja became Israel's first male medalist, winning a bronze in the same sport. The most medals were won by the Unified Team sportsmen (45 gold, 38 silver, 29 bronze). Among Czechoslovak sportsmen the most succesful were: Ján Železný who won a gold medal for athletics – throwing the javelin, Robert Změlík who won a gold medal for decathlon, Lukáš Pollert for C 1 slalom and Petr Hrdlička for sports shooting, trap. Silver medals were won by Jiří Rohan, Miroslav Šimek and Václav Chalupa. The Summer Olympics 1992 were the last to be held the same year with the Winter Olympics. Since then summer and winter olympic games have been held separately in different years.
