How can it be both? I originally thought of this as an inference, but today a student pointed out that it could also be an observation. You can’t directly observe density. If you lifted up two objects of the same size and one was much heavier, you’d INFER it was denser. But let’s say you find the volume and mass of an object and then calculate its density. That would be an indirect OBSERVATION. (indirect because you are using tools…)
