Schedule – Phase IV - Hybrid March 1, 2021 – June 24, 2021 Reentry Date Student Hours 8: 45 am – 11: 15 am (children may arrive at 8: 30 am for breakfast) 12: 30 pm – 3: 00 pm (children may arrive at 12: 15 pm for lunch) Children will spend two days per week in-person and two days virtually Full Virtual Option reopeningofschools@orange. k 12. nj. us Wednesdays are full remote and asynchronous instructional days for students – staff will be engaged in meetings, planning sessions, and professional development – also deep cleaning of the building will occur
Instructional Groups In-Person Instruction: Each class will have two groups (AM and PM) • Mondays and Tuesdays: Ms. Fernandez, Ms. Gough Da. Silva, Ms. Andress, and Ms. Mesidor-Vincent classes will meet in-person and on Thursdays and Fridays virtually • Thursdays and Fridays: Ms. Velez, Ms. Carrara, Ms. Bell-Sumner, and Ms. Unger classes will meet in-person and on Mondays and Tuesday virtually • Schedules will be shared shortly
Pick Up and Drop Off Procedures Family members and other outside adults will be restricted from entering the building beyond the lobby We encourage families to have a consistent drop off/pick up person (only one person will be allowed in the building per family) Everyone entering the building (including the children) must have on a face covering (staff will also have additional PPE)
Pick Up and Drop Off Procedures For social distancing, families will enter/exit the building using designated areas: Side door (Park Avenue side of the building): Ms. Carrara, Ms. Bell-Sumner, Ms. Fernandez, Ms. Gough-Da. Silva Front door: Ms. Velez, Ms. Unger, Ms. Andress, Ms. Mesidor-Vincent
Pick Up and Drop Off Procedures • Upon entering the building daily, each child’s temperature will be taken • Family member will sign child in • Child will be escorted to his/her classroom by a staff checkin person (if a child has a temperature of 100 degrees or above, the child will not be able to stay in school) • At the close of the school day, children will be escorted to the designated exit by a staff check-in person (PPE will be worn) • A family member or designated person on the emergency pick up form only will sign the child out for the day
COVID-19 Precautions We will follow COVID-19 protocols at all times while in the building: 1. Masks must be worn at all times while in the building 2. Proper hand washing is mandatory 3. No congregating in the building (no eating together in offices, classrooms, or kitchen areas) 4. Staff will have PPE especially for children who may experience separation anxiety 5. No visiting of other classrooms/offices 6. Bathroom time – one classroom at a time and one group at a time to practice social distancing
COVID-19 Precautions cont. Follow COVID-19 protocols at all times while in the building: 1. No sharing of materials on the playground 2. Classrooms and the playground will be cleaned between groups 3. Children will have their own materials and supplies in as much as possible 4. Children will be encouraged to social distance in as much as possible 5. Learning centers and toys that cannot be properly cleaned and sanitized have been removed 6. Children will have their own cubbies with an empty space in between 7. Limited number of children at each table and children will not sit across from each other (three sided desk guards)
Instructional Time Everyone will have a schedule for in-person and virtual learning to follow Morning message will be live for the children who are virtual (one person will be designated at this time to monitor those who are virtual – just to ensure that they are engaged) Small group time/Large group time will be live as well – one person will be designated for the virtual children Read Aloud time can be live as well using a designated person to monitor engagement
Instructional Time cont. • Outside time, meal time, and work time will be the same for children who are virtual and on site. For virtual children, they will be encouraged to have their meals, and participate in outside time and work time when they are not in live sessions. We strongly encourage families to share the children’s work in classdojo. • Families must log in at the designated time for message time, small group time, large group time, and read aloud time. Note: We will spend time helping children get used to being on site
Sick Children and Staff Protocol • If a child is showing COVID-19 symptoms (fever, cough, shortness of breath, etc. ) OR if a family member was in close contact with someone testing positive for COVID- 19, we will ask the family to keep the child home for a minimum of 14 days. • We ask that all family members and staff inform us of any potential exposure immediately. A potential exposure means being in close contact (within 6 feet) of an individual with confirmed or suspected COVID- 19 for at least 10 minutes.
Sick Children and Staff Protocol • We will safely and respectfully isolate children who show symptoms related to COVID-19 in our established isolated space (nurse’s office). Students will remain in isolation with continued supervision and care until picked up by an authorized adult. • Students and staff may not come to school if they test positive for COVID-19 and maybe asked to leave school or not come to school if they exhibit one or more of the symptoms of COVID-19, based on CDC guidance.
) ATTENDANCE & TARDINESS • In order for children to obtain the full benefits of the program and reach their greatest potential, it is important for them engage in the learning process whether virtually or face to face. If your child is absent, please call the school. • Please be sure that you and your child engage in all activities during the virtual learning schedule. If your child cannot participant on a given day, please inform your child’s teacher right away. If we do not hear from you or if you do not engage in the learning process during virtual learning our social workers will reach out to you. We will work with you to help you find resources needed for better engagement whether virtually or in-person, if needed. • IMPORTANT: Please ensure that your child arrives to school on time each day and that they are picked up on time.
SCHOOL CLEANING PRACTICES • OECC has a schedule for increased routine cleaning and disinfecting, especially of frequently touched surfaces and objects. • Bathrooms will be cleaned and sanitized daily and between use • The OECC building will be cleaned and disinfected between groups daily, thoroughly on Wednesdays, and after a person has been identified as COVID -19 positive • Classrooms have hand sanitizers and wipes • The playground will be cleaned after each classroom
Grab and Go Meals • The Grab and Go Meal Schedule: 7: 30 AM until 1: 30 PM - Monday through Friday. • In-person learners may pick up meals and eat in the classroom • On virtual days, families will pick up meals and return home • Social distancing as well as the wearing of a mask is required when picking up meals.
