“Ode to Joy” Fun Facts! ◦ “Ode to Joy” was created by a German

“Ode to Joy” Fun Facts! ◦ “Ode to Joy” was created by a German writer named Friedrich Schiller in the late 18 th century. ◦ Shortly thereafter, and thanks to Ludwig van Beethoven, the ode became musical when he composed his Ninth Symphony and added “Ode to Joy” at the end. ◦ Today, thanks to North Carolina musician Terry Mizesko, we have an updated arrangement of the popular tune. ◦ Some folks recognize “Ode to Joy” because it is sung at many churches. The tune remains the same but the title is “Joyful, We Adore Thee. ” Joyful? How appropriate! ◦ Terry Mizesko was born at the beach (COOL) and has played with the North Carolina symphony for many years. He is a very talented composer!
