Oda. Stat-G – Getting Started with the Oda. Log Type L 2
Interfacing with the Oda. Log Type L 2 • Oda. Stat-G interfaces and communicates with the Oda. Log Type L 2 through a Digitalk Ir. DA adapter that plugs into the USB port of a PC • Oda. Stat-G can use the Digitalk Ir. DA adapter to download data from the Oda. Log Type L 2 or upload hardware configuration settings or “Instrument Parameters” to the odalog • Before the Digitalk Ir. DA USB adapter can be used successfully by Oda. Stat-G suitable device drivers must be installed on the same PC as Oda. Stat-G 2
Installation • Insert the Oda. Stat-G Installation Disk in a CD Drive • The “index. html” file from the CD should automatically open in a web browser program (e. g. Internet Explorer) • If Ir. DA adapter device drivers haven’t been installed click on “CLICK TO INSTALL Ir. DA Device Drivers” • If the Welcome Page does not appear, just explore the contents of the CD in “My Computer” and click on Oda. Statsetup. exe 3
Driver Installation • Click under the picture of the Ir. DA device to be used to communicate with the Oda. Log. • Follow the instructions in each window of the driver installation progams. • For more information check the Oda. Stat-G Installation Procedure. doc file on the installation CD. 4
Connecting to an Oda. Log L 2 • Plug in the lead of the Ir. DA device into the USB port of your PC • Get the Oda. Log in Ir. DA mode by holding down the button until “Ir. DA” is displayed on the LCD (wait for animation to load) 5
Connecting to Oda. Stat-G • Check that Oda. Log Type L 2/RTx is selected in the menu in the top right hand corner of the Oda. Stat-G Start Page 6
Connecting to an Oda. Log L 2 • Place the Ir. DA device against the Oda. Log Type L 2 in the displayed position • When Oda. Stat-G detects the Oda. Log L 2 the serial number of the Oda. Log will be displayed in green lettering at the centre of the Start Page 7
Troubleshooting the Ir. DA Device • The user can check that the Ir. DA device driver has been installed correctly through the “Device Manager” program in Windows. • This can be found by clicking on Start, Settings, Control Panel, System, Device Manager. • The Ir. DA device will be listed if the driver has been installed and will be detected by Oda. Stat-G 8
Downloading Logged Data from an Oda. Log L 2 via the Ir. DA Adapter • Click on the “Download Log” button • A progress bar will appear at the top of the Start Page while the download is completed • A graph will appear when download is complete 9
Changing Instrument Parameters for an Oda. Log Type L 2 via the Ir. DA Adapter • Return to Start Page by clicking on the “house” shaped icon. • Click on the “Instrument Parameters” button. • The Instrument Parameters dialog box for the connected Oda. Log will appear 10
Oda. Log Type L 2 Instrument Parameters • These include Logging Interval, Temperature Units, Calibration Dates, and Memory Overwrite Settings 11
Oda. Log Type L 2 Instrument Parameter – File Operations • Once downloaded through the Ir. DA adapter, Instrument Parameters can be stored in a configuration (*. cfg) file • Alternatively configuration changes can be loaded from a configuration (*. cfg) file and uploaded to the Oda. Log L 2 or RTx using the Ir. DA adapter • The default folder for. cfg files is C: Oda. Stat-Gcfgfiles • Once loaded from a file the configuration can be loaded onto an Oda. Log using the Ir. DA device 12
Data Files • Four formats -. olg, . oda, . mlg, . csv • An ODA file is created in C: Oda. Stat-Godafiles folder when data is dowloaded from the Oda. Log • OLG files are created for each session of data when the ODA files are opened, and are automatically saved in C: Oda. Stat-Golgfiles • MLG files can be created by the user after they have changed the format of the data using Oda. Stat-G (e. g. joined sessions together) • Data can be exported to a CSV (comma separated values) file so it can be viewed or analysed using Microsoft Excel 13
Session Selector • A session is recorded within the data stored on the Oda. Log when the user starts and stops the logging function. • The “Session Selector” displays the sessions and allows the user to select a session for graphing. • The sessions can also be joined together to create one graph and saved as a. mlg file 14
Graphing • A graph appears automatically when data has been downloaded. • Many features of the graph can be altered through the Graph Options and Style Menus. • These include the colours of the traces and the format of the axes. • Labels can also be inserted on the graph to highlight significant data. • Graphs can also be exported to a jpeg (*. jpg) picture file. 15
