The instrument employs nearinfrared spectroscopy for the analysis of refinery alkylate samples. Standard (SSP-0011) Use Y Full Face Shield / Goggles Hood Clothing—Chemical Protection Gloves—Chemical Personal Fall Protection References / Documents Respirator / Filter Mask q MSDS on gasoline. q Unit Safe Upper & Lower Limits Spreadsheet Supplied Air Other: Equipment Materials and Reagents q Zeltex ZX-101 XL Portable Octane q Sample Holders Analyzer Special Instructions Environmental Octane Number for Alkylate by ZX-101 XL Portable Analyzer 1 Switch power on; instrument will display “Clear Chamber and Press Measure”. 2 Ensure sample chamber is empty and cover chamber with the light shield. 3 Press MEASURE key to zero instrument. 4 Fill supplied sample cup to mark with sample. 5 Once zeroing completed, “Put in sample” will display. NOTE: Instrument only allows 30 seconds for screen instructions to be performed. If this limit is exceeded screen will display “TIMEOUT” and analysis must be repeated. 6 Remove light shield from sample chamber. 7 Place filled sample cup in chamber being careful to align the alignment stripe on sample holder with the left alignment stripe on the instrument. 8 Replace light shield over sample holder. 9 Press MEASURE – once measurement is completed “Remove and Replace” will be displayed. 10 Remove sample holder and rotate to align the alignment stripe with the right alignment stripe on instrument. 11 Replace light shield.
