Developing ideas about the Earth It’s flat of course! If I keep walking I don’t just fall off the Earth do I? Or find myself walking upside down? So how can it be round? The pieces of the Earth are moving all the time, just very slowly. When parts meet and continue to push, this forces rock up and mountains are formed. The Earth was made the way it is by the great flood. Great boulders were carried and it shaped the way the Earth is. Fossils are from animals killed in the flood.
Developing ideas about the Earth All the land was once joined together as one piece but it broke apart. But when I sail my ship I don’t fall of the end and eventually come back to where I started. So that must mean it’s round. Mountains and seas were formed by the cooling of the hot Earth. It’s crust wrinkled and made the high and low parts. There were once land bridges connecting all the land on Earth. That’s how animals moved around.
The ever changing Earth Despite sustaining life, the Earth also has the ability to destroy life. Our Earth has an ever changing, dynamic nature. The ring of fire refers to a particularly volatile area of the Earth where many volcanoes occur.

The oceans are salt water meaning that it contains elements which we can separate using a process called electrolysis. Extracting resources from the Earth Humans have developed many different ways to extract resources from our Earth. Vital medicines come from plants growing in the rapidly decreasing rainforests.
