OCR Cambridge Nationals Level 2 in Sport Studies
• Vocational course • All coursework based, with one externally marked exam which will be taken in January of Year 10. • Computer based tasks and practical based. • You will be doing 4 modules over 3 years, with a set amount of assignments in each module. • All assignment work will be marked and assessed by your teacher before being sent off for external moderation. What is the course?
Grades • Students work towards grades of Pass, Merit and Distinction in Level 1 and Level 2 • Students who achieve a L 2 D can earn the GCSE point equivalent of a Grade 8. • L 2 pass is a Grade 4 • 70% of students achieved higher than a L 2 P last academic year • 20% of students achieved a L 2 D in 19 -20 academic year Grading

What’s involved Learning outcome 1: To understand the issues which affect participation in sport Learning outcome 2: To know about the role of sport in promoting values Contemporary Issues
What’s involved Learning outcome 3: To understand the importance of hosting major sporting events Learning outcome 4: To know about the role of national governing bodies in sport. How are you assessed? 1 hour – 60 mark exam normally sat in Year 10 Mixture of multiple choice and low mark questions testing knowledge of the above LO’s. Contemporary Issues
Practical Performance • LO 1: Individual performance in a sports activity. • LO 2: Team performance in a sports activity • LO 3: Be able to officiate in a sporting activity. Written Coursework • LO 4: Be able to apply practice methods to support improvement in a sporting activity. Developing Sport Skills
Written Coursework: • LO 1: Know the personal qualities, styles, roles and responsibilities associated with effective sports leadership. • LO 2: Be able to plan a sport session that you will deliver. • LO 4: Evaluate own performance in delivering a sports activity session. Written Coursework • LO 1: Know about different types of outdoor activities and their provision. • LO 2: Understand the value of participating in outdoor activities. • LO 3: Be able to plan an outdoor activity. • Elements of the course involve undertaking extra curricular trips and activities • Students need to complete an Outdoor education trip where they complete activities like rock climbing and kayaking • Students are encouraged to develop their skills in extra curricular clubs and competitions • Leadership opportunities are available for students to lead multi school events providing valuable work experiences Learning outside of the classroom
