Objective & How to Play Objective: The object of the game is to be the last person standing. If, however, there are multiple people left at the end of the week, the person with the most “pins” will win the Hunger Games. How to Play: To play The Hunger Games, you will be handed a clothespin with someone else's name on it: your Target. You need to pin that clothespin onto that person. The clothespin can be clipped to an article of clothing that the target is wearing or to a bag (backpacks and purses are acceptable) that the Target is currently carrying. If the article of clothing or the bag is sitting on the ground or hanging from something, in other words not in contact with the Target, it is not an acceptable pinning place. Once that person has been pinned, he/she will then give you his/her clothespin with their Target name on it. That Target is now your new Target, and the old Target that was pinned is now out of the game. If you happen to get your own name after the game has begun, let Mrs. Begley know, and she will fix the problem.
Safety Zones If your Target is in a Safety Zone, he/she cannot be pinned until they are out of that area. Safety Zones areas in which the game cannot be played. These areas include: • • • In a classroom (this includes the library and counselling office) In any washroom In the main office Outside of the school Assemblies/activities in the gym * * Before or after these events are acceptable, as long as it will not interrupt the event.

Promoting a Safe Environment This game will only work if students promote a safe and honest environment in which to play. Any students not acting in a safe and adult manner will be eliminated from the game. Examples of this may be: • Not giving your pin to the person who targeted you when eliminated. • Disrupting classroom instruction. • Running/reckless behavior that is against school policies already set in place – be careful on the stairs!
