O trabalho do pintor canadense Jude Griebel mostra figuras trágicas e desencarnadas em circunstâncias misteriosas e sobrenaturais. Influenciado pela ilustração vitoriana, estes desenhos e obras escultóricas empregam sentimentalismo elevado e um sentido do fantástico, prestados de forma detalhada e factual. Ele recicla elementos desse gênero como uma linguagem familiar nostálgica que pode ser empregada para expressar os elementos de sua própria história pessoal e imaginação. Jude Griebel recebeu o BFA da “Emily Carr University of Art and Design” em 2003. Seu trabalho tem sido mostrado em exposições individuais e coletivas no Canadá, nos Estados Unidos, Europa e Ásia e pode ser encontrado em coleções institucionais, incluindo a “Burnaby Art Gallery”, “Frans Masereel Centrum” (Bélgica), o “Sakima Art Museum” (Japão) e o “Colart Contemporary Canadian Art Collection”.

Biography: The work of Canadian artist Jude Griebel shows tragic and disembodied figures under mysterious and supernatural circumstances. Influenced by the Victorian illustration, these drawings and sculptural works employ high sentimentality and a sense of the fantastic provided a detailed and factual manner. He recycles elements of gender as a nostalgic familiar language that can be employed to express the elements of his personal history and imagination. Jude Griebel received a BFA from "Emily Carr University of Art and Design" in 2003. His work has been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in Canada, United States, Europe and Asia and can be found in institutional collections, including "Burnaby Art Gallery", "Frans Masereel Centrum" (Belgium), the "Sakima Art Museum" (Japan) and "Colarte Contemporary Canadian Art Collection".
