SEAL Find out about animal welfare charities, make mini books and posters. Talk about why cats might be in an animal shelter. Think about ways in which they can keep safe around animals, including rules about petting, feeding, handling and cleaning. Invite an expert into school to talk about keeping safe around animals. Autumn Term 2014 During the project pupils will learn about: • Animals that are part of the cat family. • Habitats in which they live, in both the home and in the wild. • The body parts of cats. • Animal care including organisations and charities that provide animal welfare. • How to create 3 D forms using modelling materials. • How to record their ideas and creativity in 2 and 3 dimensional forms. • How to sequence movements to sounds and music. • Charitable work of different organisations that care for animals. • Mark making, drawing and emergent writing. • The welsh language, including words and phrases across a range of experiences in the indoor and outdoor environment. Sort images of different cats, discussing differences and similarities. Look at and discuss cat images, toys, ornaments. Think about, ask and record questions. Talk about their own pets. Role play – zoo, vet and small world cats. Reading - Look at, share and talk about a range of reading materials. Retell stories poems and rhymes. Talk about the features or the text, illustrations and diagrams. Writing – Match or make labels for cat care equipment. Make lists, and collaborative poems. Make information books about different types of cat and cat care leaflets. Draw and label cats. Draw, mark make and emergent write about their feelings, ideas and experiences.
