For this lesson, you will need: ● A room which you can turn into an obstacle course. ● Objects and furniture you can move towards, as well as things you can get in, on or under. E. g cushions, blankets, hula hoop. 3

Adult led task - Set up your obstacle course Instruction Set up an obstacle course in a room of your home. Put objects in it that you can get under, sit or stand on and climb in. Start in the middle of the room and follow simple instructions from your parent or carer. Example instructions Move forward to the sofa. Move backwards to the blanket. Sit under the blanket. Sit on the beanbag. Stand in the hula hoop. 10
Unit 5 Lesson 4 - Following directional instructions. Make it easier Make it harder Other ideas Simplify the instructions to focus on one directional word. When this is secure, move onto another. Try to follow a sequence of instructions in order. Follow instructions to move around the house. Introduce left and right and follow instructions including these terms. Give instructions to a parent or carer and challenge them to follow them. Repeat and practice so you can hear the vocabulary used in lots of contexts. 11
