Lets Recap! To divide we share equally. That means there is the same number in each group.
Now let’s look at some word problems! The shop has 6 balls. They need to be put in boxes of 2. How many balls are in box? All togethere are 6 balls to be shared between 2 equal groups.
6÷ 2=3
Mark buys 8 ice lollies for his van. They are sold in boxes of 4. How many in each box? All togethere are 8 ice lollies to be shared between 4 equal groups.
8÷ 4=2
Daily tasks Write the following sums in your jotter. Remember to draw groups to help you solve the division sum. You can draw your groups and use real objects to share equally. For example you may use buttons, cheerios or bits of lego to put in the groups.
1. Kian has 10 football stickers. He shares them between his 2 friends. How many stickers do they get each? 2. Katie has 8 dolls. She shares them between 2 of her friends. How many dolls do they have each? 3. 8 flowers are shared between 2 vases. How many flowers go in each vase? 4. Lottie has 15 sweets. She shares them between 5 children. How many sweets does each child get? 5. Miss Swift decided to share 20 rulers out between her group of 5 children, how many rulers did each child get?
