Peter also visited the Johansen’s to bring them The Free Danes. • What are some hardships faced by the Danish people because of the war? • Some of the hardships that were faced by the Danish people were that they did not have sugar, butter, coffee, or tea. • Why didn’t the Danish army fight the Germans when they invaded Denmark? • The Danish army didn’t fight the Germans when they invaded Denmark because Denmark was a small country, too many Danish citizens would have died, and they did not have many soldiers.
