What is a Nuffield Research Placement? • 4 -6 weeks in a real research environment during the summer holidays • Work on your own project alongside researchers • Gain valuable experience and skills in research • Write and produce a research report and poster on your project • Exhibit your work at a Nuffield regional celebration event www. nuffieldfoundation. org

Criteria. . is this you? • Are you in Year 12 and studying A levels, BTEC, or the IB? • Are you studying science, technology, engineering or maths? Do you enjoy STEM subjects? • Are you getting good results so far? • Do you want to be involved in real research? • Do you want to pursue a STEM subject at university? • Do you like work that makes you think? Eligibility • We have strict eligibility criteria for our programme and require applicants to fulfil at least one of the following: – Your family has a combined household income of below £ 30, 000 a year – You are entitled to free school meals either now, or anytime in the past six years – You live, or have lived, in local authority care – You will be the first in your family to attend University • To find out more, please check our website www. nuffieldfoundation. org/student-applicants www. nuffieldfoundation. org

Aims • To enhance students’ first-hand experience of scientific research to inform crucial career decisions. • To broaden and deepen students’ understanding of STEM research • To minimise societal and educational opportunity barriers to progression in STEM. www. nuffieldfoundation. org

Will it cost? • No! All students are able to claim reasonable travel expenses to and from the placement • Some students may also be eligible for an additional bursary of £ 100 per week www. nuffieldfoundation. org

What are the benefits of doing a Nuffield Research Placement? • Nuffield Research Placements are highly valued by universities.
