DEFINITION Nuclear energy is stored energy in the nucleus of an atom between the bonds of protons and neutrons. Also it is non renewable.

FISSION When you split the nucleus of uranium it is called fission and it creates a release of energy.

URANIUM A handful of uranium can make electricity as much as 7 train cars loaded with coal. Uranium is a nonrenewable resource. Uranium will eventfully run out.

FUSION When atoms are combined that is called fusion and it also creates energy. Fusion - Combine the nuclei of helium.

NUCLEAR WEAPONS Bombs are a example of nuclear weapons. ‘‘The atomic bomb dropped on Nagasaki in 1945’’.

ELECTRICITY Electricity is made when you boil water which makes steam and it turns the turbines. You get steam when you use fusion or fission which makes heat. The turbines are connected to a generator. It creates electricity.

MEDICINE Nuclear medicine is used for healing and is used in hospitals also it can be used as x – rays.

CONS [-] Workers check radiation levels at waste storage sites. All of the nuclear waste is all made in the U. S and last over 40 years.

PROS [+] ‘‘Nuclear power does not dirty the air when it is made. ’’

CONCLUSION We claim that nuclear energy is stored energy and useful in many ways but it can also be dangerous.
