Critical site access dates & TG 5 for the neutron instruments (from NSS-MS V 3. 4) • Timing for TG 5 matches the schedules proposed by the instrument teams building first eight instruments. • Alternate (more aggressive) schedules are being developed for Instruments 9 -11 – to be considered if one or more of the current first eight instrument projects suffers a major delay. 9

Discussion of project schedule at IKON-13 NSS Master Schedule & Installation Schedule (V 3.

Discussion of project schedule at IKON-13 NSS Master Schedule & Installation Schedule (V 3. 4) form the basis for discussion with partners at IKON-13. (ref: plenaries by Sofie & Antonio & workshops on Thursday) Objectives: 1. firm up critical tollgate 3 (TG 3) dates for each instrument, 2. obtain estimates from the instrument teams on the time and resources required for a) in-bunker assembly and alignment, b) cave assembly and fit out, and c) Assembly/alignment of neutron guide & shielding between bunker & cave 3. gather preferences of the instrument teams for sequencing of installation in areas above, and estimates of time required for cold commissioning, 4. understand what components are to be “pre-assembled” at host laboratories, 5. Obtain estimates of what human resources the instrument team plan to provide for on-site installation and commissioning 10

Next steps on project schedule (by IKON-14) • NSS master schedule depends critically on the progress completion of “upstream” projects, i. e. Conventional Facilities (CF), Accelerator, Target and ICS projects • NSS project maintains close contact with those projects to be able to adapt the NSS schedule to mitigate impact of slippages on those projects. • Before next IKON Accelerator project will be re-baselined, and more will be known about risk of slippages in CF & Target projects. • NSS intend to issue a revised schedule for the neutron instruments in time for discussion at the next IKON-14 meeting (in February 2018).
