NRK Refrigerant Circuit Explanation • The NRK features a refrigerant control system that is capable of improving the operating range of the chiller / heat pump in heating or cooling modes, which leads to energy efficiency and more reliable operation • The control system allows a mixture of liquid and cool refrigerant gas to enter the compressor part way through the compression cycle to increase the refrigerant mass flow rate of the compressor and cools the: • Compression cavity walls • Scroll blades • High pressure valves • Check valves upper bearing assembly
NRK Refrigerant Circuit Explanation • • The liquid / cool gas injection control system includes: • A hot gas temperature sensor (HGTS) • A liquid solenoid valve • A thermostatic expansion valve • An economizer (heat exchanger) – it allows the cool wet / gas mixture entering the compressor to begin to evaporate prior to entering the compressor At 275˚F the hot gas sensor allows the VS 1 solenoid valve to energize and allows high pressure minimally sub-cooled liquid to pass through a heat exchanger where it evaporates picking up heat and then passing into the compressor
NRK Refrigerant Circuit Explanation • As the refrigerant enters the compressor, the walls of the compressor compression captivity are cooled along with the scroll blades, discharge and check valves • The refrigerant gas and oil being moved through the compressor are cooled as well without any change in condensing pressure • The slightly increased refrigerant flows through the compressor and helps to stabilize the condensing pressure, leaving the compressor, as well as cool down the mixture of gas and oil below the temperature at which the oil will begin to breakdown
NRK Refrigerant Circuit Explanation • At the same time as the refrigerant gas is picking up heat on one side of the economizer/evaporator heat exchanger the liquid entering the main chiller heat exchanger / evaporators is additionally sub-cooled increasing the system refrigeration effect • This change in the temperature of the discharge gas improves the operating range of the system for heating hot water • Hot water required for heating the facility can be raised from 131˚F to 149˚F while at the same time taking advantage of the environmental benefits of using R 410 A • The outdoor operating range has been now extended to 4˚F
NRK Injection Line • The driver check alternative two function mode: • Control of the superheating of the injection gas temperature (5) [vapor injection] • Control of the discharge temperature (2) [wet injection]
NRK Why the Economizer? • The economizer allows an increase in efficiency of thermodynamic cycle especially for high compression ratios • The use economizer can decrease the reduction of thermal power due to outside temperature decreases example : from Ambient 44. 6°F Water 113°F to A-10 W 45: • • • NRL H decreases heating capacity 42% NRK: decreases heating capacity 27% When we have to design a unit at very low ambient temperature the NRK could allow you to take one or two size smaller compare NRL HA
