Now we are in Levice. It is the main town of this region. Hi! I’m George. Welcome to Slovakia! I’m your guide and I will show the district of Levice. So let’s go!

LEVICE

LEVICE CASTLE • one of the main dominants of Levice • historical object from 13 th century. • next to the castle is small tea house, where you can go and have a cup of tea TEKOVIAN MUSEUM • next to the castle • you can see many exhibits from 19 th to 20 th century.

EDUCATION AND SOCIAL ACADEMY • dominante of Levice • the oldest secondary school in Slovakia • it looks like castle

ŠIKLÓŠ • One of the biggest travertine* • It is located near Levice • On the top is view tower *travertine= soft rock

Margita - Ilona • • recreational area is located near Levice – Kalinčiakovo there are four swimming pools campsite with 250 beds electricity for tents and caravans sports facilities restaurants and coffee

Ok! You have seen Levice. Now we can move to Brhlovce. They are very important for history.

BRHLOVCE • the most interesting thing is: that these „buildings“ are cut into the rocks (tuf) • people used it as a protection from Turkish army later as a home for poor • now it is used only as a historical monument

Oh it is very hot. Would you like to go swimming? Santovka is near here. Let’s go!

SANTOVKA • hotel, restaurant, wellness, swimming pool • the source of thermal water is under the pool • the most interesting thing of this thermal water is that natural minerals can go through our skin to our body and protect us from some illnesses

Swimming After having fun we should learn something about history in Plášťovce.

PLÁŠŤOVCE • Plášťovce is a village in the Levice District in the Nitra Region of Slovakia • in historical records the village was first mentioned in 1156 Roman Catholic church • 1898

Oh that was too much history for me! What about you? I would like to have small break in nature. Perfect place is Štiavnické vrchy.

Štiavnické vrchy ŠTIAVNICKÉ VRCHY • highest peak: Sitno If you like: • walks in forest • touristics • collecting mushrooms • cycling in the nice nature

That was a perfect break! But my stomach is empty I heard that in Pukanec are amazing „párance“.

PUKANEC MARKET • is called Pukanské remeselnícke trhy • you can find there food stalls – typical food is párance [It is a special pasta (for example with curd, sugar, potatoes etc)] ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH • 1905 • there are 6 altars

„Párance“ were delicious! Now we can have a look at some monastery or church Maybe we will see monks.

HRONSKÝ BEŇADIK • if you like history that is place for you because here is monastery • church

I am sorry that we haven’t seen any monks. But are you interested in Slovak culture? If yes we can go to Tekov to see Folk Festival

TEKOV • every year there is Tekov folk Festival • reconstruction of historic battles on Hron- boje na Hrone • there is also church of the Assumption from 13 th century • between the villages of Starý and Nový Tekov goes the ferry on the river Hron

That was amazing! I really liked it! But that was enough relax! Now we should do some sport! We can go to Tlmače!

TLMAČE • trought Tlmače flows the 2 nd longest river in Slovakia Hron • you can borrow surf or water ski • In tlmače You can run maraton called Tlmačská 25 • There is also festival TLMAČSKÉ ČINOHRANIE

BOHUNICE • • • Watermill it is used as a museum but it is still working opened since 1978 rebuilt in 1911 there is part for living and also technical part
