PMT Test Facility • Facility designed to study the response of PMTs for light levels of a few pe’s to millions of pe’s. Mantained by Hogan Nguyen. • It consists of a liquid dye contained in a quartz vessel, pumped into flourescence by a nitrogen laser. The flourescence light is viewed by 2 Pin Photodiodes and a quartz optical fiber carrying light to a dark box containing a PMT. The laser light intensity arriving at the dye can be adjusted by a variable filter wheel. • The 2 Pin diodes are digitized by a 20 -bit Burr-Brown ADC (0. 5 fc/count sensitivity). The linearity of the Pin Diode Burr-Brown ADC combination is better than 0. 5% over the entire dynamic range. Fermilab Long Range Planning Committee Open Forum On Detector R&D - Oct. 30, 2003 13
