Norwood - Street Cleanliness Graph: % of inspected streets that were found to be

Norwood - Street Cleanliness Graph: % of inspected streets that were found to be a satisfactory standard of cleanliness b Environment Management Comment: Peter Sheppard - Head of Street Care x 63030 The CIMS inspections result for Norwood Town Centre is based on a random sample of inspections. However, the percentage figure is susceptible to large movement caused by the small size of the sample at Town Centre level. At a Borough-wide level a sample size over 5 times greater reduces the effect of small numerical variations and produces a more reliable trend. This has implications for the usefulness of this indicator at Town Centre level. A much larger sample is the obvious solution but the workload implications of this will need to be considered, along with other alternatives. It should be noted that the improvement in street cleanliness is reflected in the volume of complaints now received about this issue. Street Cleansing remains one of Street Care’s highest priorities and is monitored 7 days a week by our agents to ensure that the standard is maintained. Scorecard: Street Cleanliness by ward

Norwood - Graffiti Graph: Number of square meters Graffiti removed b Environment Management Comment:

Norwood - Graffiti Graph: Number of square meters Graffiti removed b Environment Management Comment: Peter Sheppard - Head of Street Care x 63030 The above graph shows the amount of graffiti removed in Norwood and the borough overall. Grimebusters inspect all major trunk roads every morning looking for graffiti and tackle any sites that are identified. Although Town Centres do suffer the most as a teenager likes to maximise the exposure of their “tag”, secondary roads can suffer as much in some areas. All graffiti on secondary roads is targeted via a complaints system (graffiti hotline) or through funding to focus on specific areas. Consequently the amount of graffiti removed can vary significantly depending on how many complaints have been received or where dedicated funding is in place. Race/hate graffiti is always a priority. Scorecard: Graffiti The volumes dealt with for each of these types of enviro-crime are primarily "demand-led", i. e reactive to the level of occurrences on street, but is also affected, particularly for graffiti, by additional funds available from time to tackle specific sites.
