Norway • Norway has a total area of 385, 252 square kilometers • Population: 5, 109, 059 • The country shares a long eastern border with Sweden. Norway is bordered by Finland Russia to the north-east. Climate • The southern and western parts of Norway, fully exposed to Atlantic storm fronts, experience more precipitation and have milder winters than the eastern and far northern parts. Areas to the east of the coastal mountains are in a rain shadow, and have lower rain and snow totals than the west. The lowlands around Oslo have the warmest and sunniest summers, but also cold weather and snow in wintertime.

Russ The ”russefeiring” is a traditional celebration for Norwegian high school students in their final spring semester. The russefeiring traditionally starts on around 20 April and ends on 17 May, the Norwegian national day. Participants wear coloured overalls, they make groups and name a bus, car or van and celebrate almost continually during this period. Students who buy a bus, are partying in this bus the entire night until school every day from the start to 17 May. Drunkenness, and public disturbances are regularly linked to the celebration.

He has 13 World Championship and 2 Winter Olympic gold medals with 20 medals overall • Heidi Løke (born 12 December 1982) is a Norwegian handball player. She currently plays for Győri Audi ETO KC and the Norwegian national team. Among her achievements as club player are national championships, a silver medal in the EHF Women's Cup Winners' Cup, and reaching the semifinal in the EHF Women's Champions League. • Martin Ødegaard (born 17 December 1998) is a Norwegian professional footballer who plays as an attacking midfielder for Spanish club Real Madrid Castilla and the Norway national team. • He made his debut for Strømsgodset Toppfotball on 13 April 2014, becoming the youngest player to feature in Tippeligaen, and became its youngest goalscorer on 16 May. After being a regular part of the team in his first season and training with several foreign clubs, Ødegaard was signed by Real Madrid in January 2015.

Norway’s oil adventure • 1969 - Ekofisk In the late 1950 s, very few people believed that the Norwegian continental shelf might conceal rich oil and gas deposits. However, the discovery of gas at Groningen in the Netherlands in 1959 caused people to revise their thinking on the petroleum potential of the North Sea. With the Ekofisk discovery in 1969, the Norwegian oil adventure really began. Production from the field started on 15 June 1971, and in the following years a number of major discoveries were made.

What do we eat? Smoked Salmon or Røkt Laks Salmon is a key part of a Norwegian diet, as the country’s long coastline and many fjords produce ample amounts of fish. Kjøttboller Meat also constitutes a number of Norwegian delicacies, such as Kjøttboller or kjøttkaker. These can be described as rougher version of Swedish meatballs. Differing from their Scandinavian cousins, Kjøttboller are a more loosely bound patty of beef flavored with ginger and nutmeg and then fried. Fårikål Due to its northerly position, Norway experiences long and harsh winters. Nothing therefore warms Norwegians up more than a hearty stew, particularly a bowl of Fårikål Pinnekjøtt Christmas time in Norway features a number of unique and unusual delicacies, one of which ispinnekjøtt. Smalahove Another festive specialty dish is the unusual and not for the faint-hearted smalahove, which is made from a sheep’s head. Originally associated with lower classes in Norwegian society, and more commonly eaten in western parts of Norway, it has now gained popularity among many Norwegians On Fridays most Norwegians eat taco for dinner, which is far from Norwegian.
