 • Northwest Oregon had about 22, 000 processed UI claims (excluding self employed)

• Northwest Oregon had about 22, 000 processed UI claims (excluding self employed) from March 15 to June 20, more than twice the total claims for all of 2019 (10, 204). • There were 103, 670 (seasonally adjusted) nonfarm payroll jobs in Northwest Oregon in March. That fell by 18, 380 (-18%) in April, then by another 490 jobs in May. (preliminary). • Employment change is uneven. Benton and Tillamook lost jobs in May. Clatsop was unchanged. Columbia added some and Lincoln added 680 jobs. • The peak number of unemployed in Northwest Oregon during the Great Recession was 13, 135. (11. 7% Unemployment rate, May, 2009). Current number of unemployed 46% higher at 19, 156.
