North First Street Parking Proposed On-Street Parking June 14, 2006
North First Street Parking Concept is to provide public parking close to the entrance to the public beach at Salt Ponds Proposal is to remove existing “No Parking” signs along the west side of North First Street from the northern end, southward approximately 500 feet Pavement would be striped for 15 parallel parking spaces
North First Street Parking Issues from early meetings with impacted residents – Safety – Inadequate public beach facilities – Traffic problems
North First Street Pavement is wide enough to accommodate parking and leave wide travel lanes. Travel lanes will transition from 12 feet at the northern end to 15 feet at the southern end of the parking.
North First Street Parking Hours will match beach restrictions and be limited to sunrise to sunset.
North First Street There is adequate public right-of-way to install a 4 foot wide sidewalk behind the curb. ROW extends back to the cable pedestal in the ornamental grass.
North First Street Parking area will be striped to guide vehicles around this corner with the actual parking beginning approximately where the man is walking in this photo.
North First Street No changes proposed in the circle.
North First Street School bus stop is across the street. Parking will not interfere with the bus stop.
North First Street Beach will remain a passive recreation facility. Beach access will have a trash can placed to handle litter generated by any beach goers.
