DSRC BAND CAPABILITIES This chart shows the comparison between the 902 to 928 MHz and the 5. 9 GHz (5850 -5925 MHz) band DSRC equipment capabilities. As long as the applications are installed singly on each beacon, have limited requirements, and are spaced more than five range lengths apart, the 902 to 928 MHz equipment will be adequate. However, the 902 to 928 MHz equipment does not have the capability or the spectrum to meet all the requirements of at least High Rate Data Download, Signal Preemption, Transit Signal Priority, Transit Vehicle Data Transfer, Intersection Collision Avoidance, In-vehicle Signing, Work Zone Warning, and the potential proliferation of Electronic Payment Services. In addition, 902 to 928 MHz implemented applications may also eventually suffer from interference due to overcrowding of 902 to 928 MHz DSRC installations and other band users.
