MATHEMATICS CURRICULUM GO MATH! will be our textbook series. Instruction will focus on inquiry-based methodology. Problem solving will be emphasized in all units. All Pennsylvania Core Standards for Mathematics will be addressed. Each student will receive “mini-books” for all units. Students can write in their consumable books. There are online resources that can be used at home for additional practice and reinforcement.

Reflex Math ● Automaticity of basic math facts is important to form the building blocks for higher-level math concepts. ● Students will use Reflex Math on their i. Pad for basic math fact practice. ○ Reflex Math incorporates games at every level to help students quickly gain math fact fluency and confidence. ● Rocket Math “Two-minute timings” will still be used for assessments. ○ Rocket Math materials may still be used as a supplement to Reflex Math at individual teacher discretion.

MATH PLACEMENT CRITERIA ITBS (Iowa) Test Scores End of Book Test Teacher Attribute Basic Facts Both the total points and number of students determine the grouping. The difference between M 3 and M 4 is the pace and/or depth of the curriculum.

MATH GROUPING (GRADES 3, 4, 5) M 4 Students will study each concept in great depth using a variety of enrichment activities. Challenge activities will be implemented. th grade; Ms. Janardhanan – th (Mr. Lundy - 4 5 grade) M 3 Students will study each concept, using a variety of remediation and/or enrichment activities, based on the needs of the students. Pacing will also reflect the needs of the students. (Mrs. Twidwell, Mrs. Marshalek, Mrs. Dunmire –th 4 grade) All students will receive the same curriculum per grade level.

ELA HARCOURT STORYTOWN The Storytown series focuses on explicit, systematic instruction with a spiraled review of key skills. Student experience many opportunities for practice and the application of concepts. In addition, a series of leveled activities and resource materials exist to meet the varied needs of learners. Sample skills that are developed through these resources include: Various types of literature (Main and Paired Selections) Robust Vocabulary (weekly quiz) Comprehension (Focus Skills and Focus Strategies) Fluency, Accuracy, and Reading Rate Grammar and Writing Use of Dictionary and Reference Sources (on-line)

TEXT DEPENDENT ANALYSIS (TDA) Require students to provide evidence from the text and to draw inferences based on what the text says in order to support an analysis.

BOOK REPORT Ipad Project – Information rubric will be given to the students App of their choice Project completed at home

SPELLING Harcourt Spelling will drive spelling instruction Weekly Unit (on teacher web pages) Weekly homework due on Thursday, and test on Friday Cursive practice for homework only
