Introduction • Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death. • Early detection and treatment of lung cancer (LC) is the most important factor to decrease mortality. • A target-FISH Lung Cancer Detection (LCD) test developed by Bio. View Ltd, under a license from MD Anderson Cancer Center, as a noninvasive diagnostic assay based on combine analysis of cytology and cytogenetic biomarkers of bronchial epithelial cells present in sputum. Methods Results • Induced sputum samples were collected from subjects with 0. 8 -3 cm solitary pulmonary nodule who were scheduled for a lung biopsy procedure. • The Target FISH LCD Test integrates the expression of specific cytogenetic biomarker within a selected population of exfoliated respiratory cells in induced sputum with the imaging capabilities of the Bio. View Duet™ System which enables to examine the same cell twice. • Objective: To evaluated the performance of the LCD test for detection of numeric alterations at the 3 p 22. 1 and 10 q 22. 3 loci via fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) in induced sputum specimens in patients with pulmonary nodules suspected of having lung cancer. Conclusions: • • Suspicious lung nodules can be evaluated non-invasively by a new sensitive test of induces sputum that combines morphology detection and FISH analysis. We recommend the LCD test as an aiding tool in the management of solitary pulmonary nodule.
