Those Noble-Minded Students • They Were Diligent Students – They “searched the Scriptures” • This present tense Greek word means: – Thoroughly examine, investigate – Sift evidence, making careful and exact research as in legal processes – Luke 23: 14; Acts 4: 9; 12: 19 – How thoroughly do you examine it?
Those Noble-Minded Students • They Were Honest Students – They “searched the Scriptures to see” • Not to prove a preconceived notion • But “whether these things were so” – Knew not all teaching was or is “so” • Trusted Scriptures as the sole source of true knowledge and authority – What motivation do you have in study?
Those Noble-Minded Students • They Were Regular Students – They “searched the Scriptures daily” • “Daily” was not hyperbole but literal. • Paul taught daily – Noble-minded students went daily, listened daily and searched daily – Not weekly, not Sun-daily • Did they need it more than we do? – Do you investigate Scripture every day?
Those Noble-Minded Students • They Were Prepared Students – They received “with all readiness of mind” • Lit, received with all forward mind – Stretching mind forward to learn – An eager mind, rushing forward • Followed example of Ezra (Ezra 7: 10) – How eager and forward are you in study?
Those Noble-Minded Students • They Were Rewarded Students – “Therefore many of them believed” • Result of open hearts +open Bible • Many responded – Not all, but not “some” (like in v. 4) • Received & obeyed like Acts 2: 41 • True faith & leads to obedience – Will you be rewarded by your study?
