NIKE JUST DO IT
Brief History • Nike, Inc. is a clothing, footwear, sportswear, and equipment supplier based in the United States. • Idea of Nike began in the 1950’s by field and track coach Bill Bowerman and sprinter Phil Knight at the University of Oregon. • Bowerman’s intensions was to provide his athletes with a competive advantage. • Before he knew it Phil Knight and himself opened a shoe store called Blue Ribbon Sports were they sold Tigger shoes.
Continued… • Bowerman began ripping apart Tiger shoes to see how he could make them lighter and better, and enlisted his University of Oregon runners to wear -test his creations. In essence, the foundation for what would become Nike, named after the Greek goddess of victory, had been established. • When Knight and Bowerman were ready to take their brand to the next level they selected a brand mark known as the “swoosh”.
Continued… • Designed by a graphic design student at Portland State University named Carolyn Davidson. • She only received $35 for doing so while the innovative company went on to make thousands in the years to come.
Present Day • Its is headquartered near Beaverton, Oregon. • It is the world's leading supplier of athletic shoes and apparel. • Its Swoosh logo and the "Just do it" are amongst the worlds greatest trademarks. • Nike endorsers: Cristiano Ronaldo (FIFA), Kobe Bryant (NBA), Michael Jordan (NBA), Adrian Peterson (NFL), Manny Pacquiao (Boxing), Tiger Woods (Golf), and Rafael Nadal (Tennis).

PEPSI
BRAD’S DRINK • 1893 • Invented by Caleb Bradham • A pharmacist and drugstore owner from New Bern, North Carolina. • Originally it was referred to as Brad’s Drink • Only known locally until sales grew.
1898 • Bradham renames his drink Pepsi-Cola • Scribbles the first design where he focuses on curves and uses the color red.
1905 • Sight changes were made to the trademark in 1905 • Keeping the red and curves but giving it a smoother look.
1906 • Few changes were made but the Word “Drink” was added to the Design
1940 • Basic Same design as in 1906 but small changes were made.
1950 • The red, white and blue colors were introduced • First begin to see the circular design
1962 • Pepsi-Cola is renamed Pepsi. • The circular design is no longer at an angle.
1973 • Pepsi keeps the circular red, white and blue design but leave the soda top look and make it look smoother.
1991 -1992 • Pepsi sticks with the Pepsi “Globe”. but puts it under the name Pepsi and adds a red bar.
1998 • Pepsi embraces the globe and makes it larger and adds more blue to their design.
2003 • Pepsi keeps both the globe and the blue color but adds more details to their trademark.
2008 • Pepsi decides to modernize their logo and has the Arnell Group from New York design their new logo. • The new logo gives the globe a “smile” and makes the Pepsi letters lowercase.
