Institutional Development Award (IDe. A) Program • Goal: to enhance geographical distribution of NIH research funds and strengthen research capacity in states receive NIH funding at lower levels • IDe. A Eligibility: 23 States and Puerto Rico • History: First COBRE funded in 2000 by NCRR. The IDe. A Program moved to NIGMS in 2012.

A Co-Funding o • 24 active awards, one in each state IDe. A Infrastructure for Clinical and Translational Research (IDe. A-CTR) o • ~130 COBRE Phase 1, 2, and 3 awards Co-funds R 01/R 15 (~30/yr) and S 10 (~5/yr) with other NIH ICs and NIH OD IDe. A Regional Technology Transfer Accelerator Hubs o 4 active awards, one in each IDe. A region

NIGMS Support for IDe. A State Students @ MSRP (i-MRSP) • The IDe. A program encourages students from all IDe. A state medical schools, and students from IDe. A states but attend medical schools in other states through state-sponsored programs, to apply. • IDe. A program principal investigators (PIs), including the IDe. A State Clinical and Translational Research Award PIs, are encouraged to provide help to the applicants, e. g. , writing recommendation letters. • After selections made by the MRSP, NIGMS will provide additional funds to support up to 5 students from IDe. A states on the waiting list each year. • MRSP scholars will be invited to attend National IDe. A Research Conference in June 2010 and/or Joint IDe. A PI meeting in 2021. • MRSP scholars will have the opportunity to participate in research supported by IDe. A awards after the one year stay at the NIH.
