Voluntary registers • The command paper ‘Enabling Excellence: Autonomy and Accountability for Health and Social Care Staff’ indicates no further extensions to statutory regulation • The Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care (currently CHRE) will accredit voluntary registers instead. • Dependent on the passage of the Health and Social Care Bill.

Quality assurance of education and training • Assessment, Equivalence, Standards and Quality Assurance working group set up to bring together devolved administrations, the Academy, the School of Healthcare Science and professional advisors. • Outcomes will be reached by March 2012 and be fed into the governance structures of the School and the Academy. • Programmes will be reviewed against MSC curricula outcomes and high level Academy education and training standards (subject to public consultation) • Partner Organisations will be approved to undertake QA activities for the Academy. Requirements for Partner Organisations will be subject to public consultation.
Equivalence • Assessment, Equivalence, Standards and Quality Assurance working group is also making recommendations for equivalence. • Equivalence judgements will be made against MSC curricula outcomes and Good Scientific Practice (subject to public consultation). • Individual equivalence and programme equivalence will be considered.
