Ø the study must answer the definition of a research question The definition used by the Department of Health is; “The attempt to derive generalisable new knowledge by addressing clearly defined questions with systematic and rigorous methods. ” Ø recruitment must be provided by informed consent - a study participant is counted if they have provided informed consent and - count towards the sample size of a study as set out in a study protocol
Central Portfolio Management System (CPMS) Ø CPMS is a single, cloud based, information management system holding the UK portfolios’ replacing the UKCRN Ø Inclusion benefits include expert advice, site selection, NHS Service Support resources, active performance monitoring including recruitment to time and target, training and ISRCTN registration Ø Recruitment is linked to Health Board funding, - encouraging recruitment - Incentivise Health Boards based on activity
Central Portfolio Management System (CPMS) Questions that need to be considered for a study to be deemed eligible, Ø Is the study of clear value to the NHS? Ø Does the study take appropriate account of the priorities, needs and realities of the NHS? Both questions need to be addressed
