NHS MEETINGS • Meetings are the 1 st Thursday of the month at 7: 30 a. m. in Mrs. Wise/Witherspoon’s room. • Listen to announcements (Remind) for special called meetings.

NHS Requirements • LHS NHS Bylaws can be found on the NHS page of the LHS website. • Read the NHS bylaws with your parents. • Return your completed NHS membership contract at the next meeting.
ATTENDANCE • Members are required to attend all meetings. • Any active member who misses two meetings shall be warned and put on probation. • If he/she misses an additional two meetings, he/she is entitled to a hearing before the faculty council for consideration of dismissal.
TARDIES • A tardy will be defined as being three minutes late. • Two tardies will count as an absence. • If a member is late five minutes or more, the member will be considered absent for that meeting.
NHS PROJECT INFORMATION • • • FRESHMAN ORIENTATION OPEN HOUSE/CURRICULUM FAIR JV FOOTBALL GAME CONCESSIONS BLOOD DRIVES INDIVIDUAL SERVICE PROJECTS (at least one; two hours maximum) • Members are expected to participate in chapter activities.
NHS Shirt • You should wear your NHS shirt at all NHS events. • This is great publicity/recognition for our club. • Be sure to fill-in your size on the order form before you leave today.
JV FOOTBALL GAMES • JV Home Games, Visitors Side Concessions • 6: 30 – 9: 15 • Three members per game. • Wear a hat and closed toe shoes (tennis shoes are best).
Dues • Junior NHS dues $25 • Pay Mrs. Witherspoon • Due by the end of the year. Includes National NHS membership fee and NHS t-shirt. • This does not include graduation fees. Plan on graduation fees being $30. More info on these fees at a later date.
Service Hours • Members are required to keep record of their activities. Community service logs are available on the LHS NHS page. • Double check records against the records kept by the Vice-President. • Bylaws state 10 hours of service per semester with a maximum of 2 individual hours. (Five hours for Spring Inductees. )
NHS OFFICER ELECTIONS • Available positions: President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, Historian. • Anyone who is interested in running for office must complete the NHS officer application. Officer applications are due to Mrs. Witherspoon on Monday, April 30. • Officers will be elected at the next club meeting on Thursday, May 3.
