He’s been with the Ravens for their entire tenure in the NFL, and the team has averaged at least 8 wins each year. Kevin Colbert- General Manager for the Pittsburgh Steelers. In the past 13 seasons, the Steelers have had only one losing season, averaging at least 10 wins and one playoff appearance each year under Colbert. Ted Thompson- General Manager for the Green Bay Packers. He helped turn around the Seattle Seahawks franchise, turning them into Super Bowl Contenders before joining another legendary and successful franchise. #5: BILL BELICHICK- NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS While he is famous for being the head coach of the New England Patriots, Bill Belichick is also the de facto General Manager for the same team he coaches. A graduate of Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut, Belichick’s first job was with the Baltimore Colts in 1975, acting as the “coach’s gopher. ” Four years later, he was hired as a special team coordinator for the New York Football Giants. He won two Super Bowls with the team under head coach Bill Parcells, and Belichick eventually became a defensive coordinator for the team. In 1996, Belichick left the Giants and was reunited with Parcells, this time in Massachusetts and the Patriots. After spending the first four years there, Belichick became head coach for the Patriots and in his first year, he won the first of three Super Bowls with the team, shocking the heavily-favored St. Louis Rams. Belichick also serves as the team’s general manager, and the team has had so much success in recent years with the rise of Tom Brady, as well as key signings that helped spark the team to the top of the National Football League.

#4 TED THOMPSON: GREEN BAY PACKERS • Ted Thompson was born in Texas and was a multi-sport athlete while enrolled at Southern Methodist University, or SMU. He played along with Earl Campbell, Warren Moon, and Bruce Matthews, the uncle of current Packer Clay Matthews. He was hired by the Packers as a scout in 1992 and held that position until 1999. Thompson then took over as the VP of Football Operations for the Seattle Seahawks for the next five years before returning to the Packers. Thompson traded legendary quarterback Brett Favre in favor of future quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Not only did Rodgers help win a Super Bowl, but earned Thompson as one of the greatest GM’s in NFL history.

In their first ever draft, Newsome selected Jonathan Ogden and Ray Lewis as their first two picks. Ogden was elected to the Hall of Fame this past year, and Lewis recently retired after winning his second Super Bowl.

After graduating from Robert Morris University, he joined the Steelers in 2000 as the Director of Football Operations, where the team won two of their six Super Bowl championships. The same year he was promoted to General Manager, the Steelers qualified for the Super Bowl, only to lose to the Packers.

#1: JERRY REESE- NEW YORK GIANTS • From the state of Tennessee and UT-Martin, Jerry Reese has been the general manager for the New York Giants since 2007. Under his tenure, the team has won 2 Super Bowls, both against the New England Patriots, 2 Conference Championships, and 1 Division Championship. Reese has actually been with the Giants since 1994, as a Director of Player Personnel. While serving this role, the Giants have drafted big names, such as Eli Manning, Justin Tuck, Mathias Kiwanuka, and David Tyree. Despite the Giants being off to a poor start this year, he still ranks in as one of the top GM’s in NFL history today.
