The NFL may have to forgo its 2011 season to save money, moreover, resulting in a Lockout. � The NFL does not have enough money to pay the players and fund the season. � The owners and players have to come to a bargaining agreement. � This all has to be done before a season can be started.

So how do the players feel about this possible Lockout? � The average NFL

So how do the players feel about this possible Lockout? � The average NFL player makes around $850, 000 per year. � 22% of the NFL’s 1700 athlete’s have no savings to fall back on should the league end result in a lockout. � if the lockout occurs, a lot of these players will be in a lot of financial problems. � Also, among NFL players who have been retired for two years, 78% are bankrupt or financially stressed, mostly due to divorce and/or lack of a job. � 22% of the players are already living paycheck to paycheck

The main question to answer is where did all the NFL’s money go and why is there now a financial problem in this league. � When the Owners signed their last deal with the networks that broadcast NFL games in 2009, it is believed they built the contracts in such a way that they took less money upfront to guarantee that the networks would still pay the owners if there was a lockout and games were missed.

Who else will suffer? � The Fans and Coaches � the fan based opinion on the NFL lockout is that it is a horrific decision. � the coaches are not just not going to be paid, but cannot see or talk to their players
