Daily Mail 1/2 History: • The Daily Mail was First published in 1896 by Alfred Harmsworth, 1 st Viscount Northcliffe, and his brother Harold Harmsworth, 1 st Viscount Rothermere, it is the United Kingdom's second biggest-selling daily newspaper after The Sun. Its sister paper The Mail on Sunday was launched in 1982. Political Stance: • The Daily Mail is the second biggest selling British tabloid newspaper. It supports the Conservative Party. It is right-wing in its editorial stances, but supports euthanasia, and is noted for its stance on gun control and the NHS. • I’m sort of surprised by this, I wouldn't expect them to be a Labour magazine but I think Conservative doesn't suit them. I would say that they're more of an impartial magazine

Daily Mail 2/2 Target Audience: • Based on its readership statistics, the Daily Mail's target audience is lower-middle-class British women. However, the paper's promotional gimmicks, prizes and contests, and low price make it appealing to lower-middle-class readers in general. • Personally I would say that there target audience with them having a well established website and also having their own app for free download. They are obviously attempting to attract all audiences and using techniques which teenagers and children would is making their brand acessible. • As far as I can see the Daily Mail have no celebrity writers and just have journalists. The Daily Mail are most often thought of as being a tabloid company who make up/change key factors of stories about celebrities for attention. No celebrities probably want to write for them as they don't want to get involved with the controversy. Biggest Stories: • I couldn't find any articles on massive stories/investigations carried out by the Daily Mail. The pretty much carry every story that is out there, perhaps focusing on celebrities more than other newspapers would. They also heavily focus on their sport section and write articles over all types of sport.

The Telegraph 1/2 History: • The Telegraph was Developed in the 1830 s and 1840 s by Samuel Morse (1791 -1872) and other inventors, the telegraph revolutionized long-distance communication. It worked by transmitting electrical signals over a wire laid between stations. Political Stance: • The personal links between the paper's editors and the leadership of the Conservative Party, along with the paper's generally rightwingstance and influence over Conservative activists, have resulted in the paper commonly being referred to, especially in Private Eye, as the Torygraph. • From looking at their colomnists you would guess that they are Conservative, they are all very well scrubbed up and wouldn't look like your stereotypical Labour voter, They would probably be despised the ‘commoner’.

The Telegraph 2/2 Target Audience: • The Telegraph apparently according to surveys has a 50/50 audience with half being male and half being female. Additionally they have a older average audience than any other big British newspaper. With The Daily Telegraph having an average of 61. • I’d say that the Telegraph have a higher class audience as on their columnist page all of their writers are wearing smart clothing in suits and dresses. Their website layout is also very basic and straight forward, they don't look as if they are attempting to appeal towards younger audiences by using the power of social media. The text and colours of their web page/newspapers are also very bland, featuring old fashioned text and more mature colours such as brown and dark reds. Biggest Stories: • One of the biggest stories of the Telegraph lately is their investigation into Sam Allardyce, the newly appointed England manager, they basically stitched him up in a fake interview that they recorded secretly. This led towards the England manager being sacked by the FA (Football Association) due to handing advice on transferring players for a cheaper price. To me this again signifies their target audience by not liking football and setting out to ruin Allardyce’s opportunity of a lifetime. I don’t think you would see a lower class newspaper carry out an investigation similar towards this one.
