LSS 1 – Phase 1 restart • Vacuum • All sectors closed (135, 136, 142) • Pump down and leak detection ongoing • Magnet • Reinstallation activity completed • Modification of busbar for quadrupoles to be completed (QFA/QDA -> QF/QD) • Electrical and hydraulic connection of auxiliary magnets to be done (e. Cloud + correctors) • Completion of cabling campaign reception tests • Drain repair to be re-scheduled • Activity completed within ALARA envelope

Co-activity concerns w. r. t COVID -19 safety rules if two cabling campaigns take place simultaneously in the limited space available in the tunnel eye (machine and transport sides)

Cooling and Ventilation • Activity stopped in ramping up phase (startup was foreseen 2 weeks after the beginning of the lockdown) • Rescheduling still planned on estimation (No contractual date yet available). • Installation of cooling pipes under the shielding before W 27 (start installation of first layer of external shielding) • Skid support ready for installation W 24 / Installation after W 27 (pending end of cabling campaign and ECX 5 scaffolding removal) • Skid assembly completed at contractor W 22 (last missing major component) • Contractor start of activity at CERN W 24 • Skid installation in W 28 • Contractor ready to start activities at CERN as soon as all authorisation will be released (Two weeks required for start of activities after authorisation).

Final bake-out to be planned during IST period. To be scheduled during SPS closure for access system & fire detection tests

Kickers • Ongoing activities in 867 • Third MKDV magnet ready for installation • Repair of two MKDH damaged magnets (contact erosion) restarted. Third magnet already installed to be checked • Consolidation of MKDV ancillaries restarted • Design of transmission line support in LSS 5 completed. Production in preparation. • Test of upgraded PFN and solid state switch ongoing. Installation will be completed before W 40. Progressive installation after test completion (1 PFN per month) • Ongoing activities in ECA 5 • Mounting of transmission connectors (H & V) resumed • Installation of electronics and controls ready to start • Completion of infrastructure installation in kicker platform (Ethernet, timing, metallic structure…) • Ongoing activities in 865 • FESA, slow control, Expert GUI software development ongoing (TSU, IPOC, BETS, FIDS, Timing, State…)

• Vacuum • All chambers at CERN and coated (4 chambers for UA 9 to be checked) • Waiting for final installation and alignment of equipment • Resources planned for vacuum acceptance test of BTV, (BCT) and TIDVG • Instrumentation (BTV) • • In vacuum instrument: RFI Shielding: Mock-up in 867 ready at 90% Optical Line: Material received and OK. RFI Software: Specification available. Development work ongoing • Magnets • Main quadrupole available (QFA. 516, QFA. 518 and QD. 519) • Tracing and installation in preparation (QD. 519 pending end of cabling campaign in tunnel eye) • Auxiliaries magnets (MDVW, MDHD and MDVs) available and ready for installation • Resources secured (available from June)

Summary • Progressive restart of activities in SPS Point 5 and in Lab • No blocking point(s) identified • RFI dates for major hardware components confirmed • Update of installation planning ongoing by EN/ACE • Critical path still driven by TIDVG core readiness. On-site bake-out still during IST. • Manpower resources secured by all groups to reach the deadlines • Priority is given to EN/EL to complete cabling campaigns • Start of cooling and ventilation installation in preparation. Final schedule not yet known • COVID-19 Safety measure impacts some activities (reduction of co-activities) during Phase 1
