A shooting occurred early Tuesday morning at Berrendo Middle School in the city of Roswell, New Mexico. The 12 -yearold suspect, who has not been identified, entered the middle school gym, pulled a shotgun out of a bag and opened fire on students waiting for school to start. Two were wounded. A 13 year old girl was in stable condition following surgery. She suffered injuries to her right shoulder. A boy, 11, was in critical condition, and underwent two surgeries. He suffered injuries to the side of his face and neck. The attack lasted about 10 seconds. It may have gone on longer, authorities say, were it not for the actions of an eighth-grade social studies teacher (he also coaches track). The teacher, John Masterson, apparently walked up to the shooter and convinced him to put the gun down. It is also thought that the shooter may have warned some students not to go to school before the attack. Police do not yet have a motive but they do have the individual responsible in state police custody.

In Other News n n The Food and Drug Administration is warning against prescription combination drugs with more than 325 mg of acetaminophen, citing the risk of liver damage. It is recommending health professionals stop prescribing or dispensing combination drugs that contain more than 325 mg of acetaminophen per dose. A combination drug contains two or more drugs. Acetaminophen is often used in combination with opioids such as oxycodone (Percocet), hydrocodone (Vicodin) and codeine (Tylenol with Codeine). The warning does not apply to over-the-counter drugs such as Tylenol, which contains acetaminophen. But the FDA said it will address over-the-counter acetaminophen products in another regulatory action. Justin Bieber had police arrive at his door on Tuesday with a warrant to search his home. Investigators with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department were looking for video from Bieber's security cameras that might show what happened Thursday night when eggs were thrown at a neighbor's home. He apparently was cooperative with the dozen deputies, but he did not answer questions about the alleged vandalism. If investigators find enough evidence that Bieber, 19, threw the eggs that splattered against his next-door neighbor's home, they could refer the matter to the district attorney's office for possible prosecution. The vandalism damage to the house of Bieber's neighbor was about $20, 000. The cost of repairing the damage to the house is a key factor in determining the severity of the charge. Any damage of more than $950 would qualify the charge as a felony. Bieber lives in the Oaks, an exclusive gated community. He moved into a $6. 5 million mansion there two years ago. His neighbors have complained about Bieber several times in the past year.
