Setting the Power. Point View Use Normal View for the Interactive Elements To use the interactive elements in this presentation, do not select the Slide Show view. Instead, select Normal view and follow these steps to set the view as large as possible: • On the View menu, select Normal. • Close the Slides tab on the left. • In the upper right corner next to the Help button, click the ^ to minimize the ribbon at the top of the screen. • On the View menu, confirm that Ruler is deselected. • On the View tab, click Fit to Window. Use Slide Show View to Administer Assessment Items To administer the numbered assessment items in this presentation, use the Slide Show view. (See Slide 7 for an example. )

Calendar Routines Use the calendar on the next page for each month of the year. Add the numbers. . . you might want to write in the date of special days or pull the information onto calendar. Questions you might ask as they assemble calendar: How many days are in the month? How many Mondays? Fridays? etc. Which day of the week is the 2 nd? 13 th? etc. Are there any holidays, birthdays, or special events this month? Dismantle the calendar as a group. Ask someone to remove all the Monday numbers. Ask someone to remove all numbers with 5. Keep asking questions until all the numbers have been removed. click to return to table of contents

Number of School Days Use the next page to count days by focusing on one's, ten's and hundreds. You might also want to set up number line in classroom. Use sentence strip paper (or any long paper). Choose a good space on wall to begin a number line. There should be room to go to at least 100. Write the number 0 on the paper. On the first day of school write the number 1. Each day after that the children will write the next number on the strip. You might want to alternate the color of strips to make a pattern and highlight groups of ten. click to return to table of contents

Daily Schedule Routine The children will order classroom activities and special classes. You might have to add you own symbols to represent what your school offers. The children will place the correct activity card on the board. If you have a special activity for the day you might want to place that card on the board.
