New Generation Healing Biostimulation with 830 Laser

How Does it Work? Brief Overview

Effects on Human Body 1. Light/Photons 2. Stimulate Mitochondria 3. Stimulate Lymphatic system 4. Increases Tensile strength Skin Subcutaneous tissues

Biostimulation In 1967 a few years after the first working laser was invented, Endre Mester in Semmelweis University Budapest, Hungary wanted to find out if laser might cause cancer, Dr Endre Mester The father of laser therapy 1. 2. 3. 4. He took some mice Shaved the hair off their backs Divided them into two groups Gave a laser treatment with a low powered ruby laser to one group. 5. They did not get cancer 6. To his surprise the hair on the treated group grew back more quickly than the untreated group.

What Can the Patient Expect?

3 Essential Benefits 1. Reduces Inflammation 2. Reduces Pain 3. Increases Tissue Healing & STRENGTH

Successfully Treats * Pain Relief (muscles, joints, nerves) * Plantar fascitis * Wound Healing * Trauma * Arthritis * Migraine headaches * Lower back pain * Repetitive Stress Injuries (RSI) * Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) * Tendonitis * Fibromyalgia / Myofascial Pain * Sprains and strains

More Indications * Post-operative pain * Whiplash * Post-operative wounds * Knee, foot, ankle pain * Tennis Elbow * Golfer's Elbow * TMJ * Soft tissue injuries * Swelling * Burns * Pressure sores * Herpes simplex * Acne * Rotator Cuff Injury

Is it Safe?

US Food & Drug Admin In the United States, medical lasers are classified as Class II (Special Controls) and must have Section 510(k) premarket approval or premarket clearance from the FDA prior to marketing for any claimed human indication, unless specifically exempted by the FDA.

FDA Approval • February 6, 2002 • Took 12 years • No harmful effects except for eyes

Research Development • Since 1967, more than 2, 000* clinical studies have been published worldwide on low-level laser therapy (aka. low intensity, cold laser)

Painful Osteoarthritis of the Knee • • 2003 Double-Blind, Randomized, Controlled Study 90 patients, 14 -week study Randomly assigned to three treatment groups Ga. Al. As diode • Group I “A”: actual LPLT consisted of 5 minutes (3 J) • Group II “B”: actual LPLT consisted of 3 minutes (2 J) • Group III “C”: placebo laser 30 patients in each group. All patients received a total of 10 laser treatments (over 2 weeks) and 14 weeks of exercise. Follow up measures 4 -8 -12 weeks after last laser treatment.

Study Conclusion “We found significant improvements in patients within the two active therapy groups with respect to all of the parameters such as pain, functioning, and Qo. L measures, whereas there were significant improvements in patients in the placebo laser group with respect to morning stiffness, pain at movement, pain at rest, pain at flexion, and WOMAC at the end of 14 weeks. Additionally, we did not find any significant differences in placebo laser group with respect to any outcome measures except morning stiffness at week 6. This finding was one of the most important results of our study. This finding suggests that significant improvements in some outcome measures starting from week 10 in the placebo laser group may rise from the exercise therapy applied rather than the placebo laser therapy. ”

Orthodontic Movement Velocity • 2004 Randomized Study • The aim of this innovative study was to analyze the effects of 780 nm diode laser irradiation on human canines’ retraction during an orthodontic movement with a healthy tissular response, by the measurement of the biometrical progress. A higher retraction velocity could decrease treatment time and therefore treatment costs. • 11 patients, 2 -month study • Left and right first maxillary premolars extracted and a fixed orthodontic appliance installed to close the space created and to restore an ideal occlusion and facial esthetic. • Ga. Al. As diode • One half received laser treatment, the other half did not.

Study Conclusion: “The results of this preliminary study suggest that LILT significantly accelerates orthodontic movement in humans with a healthy response from periodontal tissues. The irradiation parameters and protocol used in this study were successful in decreasing treatment time. As a consequence, future perspectives of this innovation are decreased treatment costs and less discomfort for the patient. Further studies are still required to explain the mechanisms of LILT and more clinical trials are necessary to optimize treatment parameters. ”

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome 8 • Nearly 500, 000 Americans have surgical treatment for carpal tunnel syndrome each year; surgery costs $8, 000 to $10, 000 per patient, according to the American College of Orthopedic Surgeons. • GM Study. 12 year study due to $250 million per year.

How Long are Treatments?

Fast, Effective Healing • • • Studies proving as little as 2 minutes 70% after ONE treatment Typical treatment (per area) is 3 -6 minutes Cumulative irradiation effect Effects do not “wear off” (but pain may return if you re -injure) Connective tissue disorders and chronic scar tissue may take longer

How Much do treatments Cost?

Laser Treatment Costs • Varies from office to office • $19 – $150 dollars per treatment (based on length of time)

Billing Codes Highest reimbursement codes (may require documents) • 97140 Manual Therapy – Constant Att • 97139 Unlisted Procedure – Constant Att • 97039 Unlisted Modality – Constant Att Easy reimbursement (lower return) • 97026 Infra. Red • 97032 EMS - Attended

Easy Return on Clinician Investment Conservative Scenario: • $50 per treatment? • Just 5 treatments per day • $1, 250/week times 4. 3 (wks in a month) = $5, 375/month • ROI in less than 1 month for Corded unit • Less than 2 month for Cordless! Currently there are doctors generating $30, 000 per month.

Superior to Other Tx Options (ie. Pain Meds, Botox, M. Relaxers, US, EMS, Massage) • Painless, non-toxic, non-invasive, without drugs and very safe • Can be applied over pins, plates, and fractures • Directly onto skin. No gels/medium required • Cumulative effect • Increases collagen synthesis (tensile strength) • No potential dangers (x eye) • Immediate results typically
