Questions You Should Ask Regarding the Basic Essential Plan Although the premiums are lower, will I be able to pay the deductible and coinsurance if my dependents or I need medical services? Have I reviewed the plan design and understand the deductible, coinsurance, and out-of-pocket maximum per individual? Do I routinely go to a specialist, need routine lab work, or take a specialty medication? Have I considered a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) to help with any expected costs for medical care or prescription costs? *This plan does not qualify for a Health Savings Account (HSA), since there are services built into the plan design that are not subject to the deductible.
