Neutrino Software Test Beams detector prototyping Simulation of
Neutrino Software • Test Beams (detector prototyping): – Simulation of test beam optics. – Simulation of various test beam setups, including the easy ability to combine a wide range of detector technologies (e. g. Cherenkov, Emulsion, MIND, TASD, Liq. Argon, etc)
Low Energy Interactions • Study of interactions of low energy (Ge. V or below) particles in matter. • In particular, pions and muons. • Low energy capture of stopping particles. • Comparison between test beam data and G 4 with implementation of new results into G 4. • This has benefits outside of neutrino physics. • Materials include water, plastic, iron, liquid argon.
Reconstruction • Implementation of pattern recognition and tracking in matter. • Reconstruction/ID of particles (e, mu, hadrons) in magnetised material. • Reconstruction of energy and direction of hadronic showers. • Software to identify energy and signed momentum of electrons and muons in dense (neutrino target!) tracking materials.
Foreseen Collaborations • UK, Switzerland, Bulgaria, Poland(TBC), Spain, CERN (? ) (not exhaustive) • To be requested from the EU: – Of the order of 1 FTE (240 k€) for general software development. – Of the order of 1 FTE (240 k€)for the test beam software itself. – Matching contributions not a problem.
